Malcolm Starmer
Malcolm started his cooking career in his family kitchen in Tramore but it wasn’t long before his raw talent was spotted by Richard Corrigan, one of Ireland’s most successful Chefs. Malcolm joined him in Richard’s English Garden Restaurant in London where he honed his skills.
According to Richard Corrigan, Malcolm played a huge part in the success of his former Michelin-starred restaurant Lindsay House.
In his career in the UK, Malcolm worked with many top chefs including Anthony Worrall-Thompson, Gordon Ramsay and Dylan McGrath. Malcolm returned to the Irish Shores after he was headhunted by some of the best restaurants in Dublin.
Meet The Owners
Sara Walshe
Sara has been in the hospitality business since she finished school and after completing her studies in Hotel Management, the travel bug hit and she went to work on the QE2 Cruise Liner.
Her QE2 experience shaped her decision that America was the place for her. Her experience opened doors for her and she started working for the large Restaurant Company “Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises” in Chicago where she developed her hospitality skills over 15 years.
Sara is a trained and very experienced wine connoisseur and her belief in the importance of excellent customer service partnered with great food and fantastic wines resulted in her appointment as Service Training Manager for the Company which oversaw over 280 restaurants in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Both Malcolm and Sara returned to their home town of Tramore to spend more time with their families.
Meeting for the first time brought forth the realisation that between them they could create something extraordinary in their home town, combining their international experience in their individual areas of expertise. The Pier Restaurant was borne!
Their philosophy is to serve innovative, delicious food, using fresh exciting ingredients, all locally sourced and match Malcolm’s fabulous food with Sara’s great wines and “best in class” service. Sara’s love of wine is very evident in The Pier Wine List which proudly carries some of the best wine of the world, including Spain, France, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Lebanon.

Our restaurant is an eclectic mix of retro and old worlds. We’ve been called “unique” & “quirky”. Our approach has always been to show something everyone would appreciate but stay true to ourselves, hence, The Four Corners. Creating a warm & inviting atmosphere.
