42 Different Wines

From 15 Countries

When putting together this list I really wanted to introduce people to wines they may not have ever tried while also including fan favourites.

Helping our customers choose a wine is definitely one of the perks of the job and something I cherish.

France

Red

CHATEAU LA CROIX ROMANE, LALANDE DE POMERAL

This bourdeaux from the Lalande de Pomerol wine appellation is predominately merlot, (80% merlot, 10% cab franc, 10% cabernet) which lends itself to be a more medium bodied wine then the cabernet driven Bordeaux. I like this wine for its smoothness, and it just gets better when matched with food. 25-year-old vines and 12 to 18 months ageing in French oak barrels, results in a blackberry scented, supple and gently spiced dark fruit wine.

Red

CHATEAU BAUDUC BORDEAUX SUPERIOR

This merlot driven Bordeaux has young fresh fruit flavours of raspberry & cherry and because it is a ‘superior’ it has spent some time in French oak barrels that bring nice hints of fig and spice to those soft fruity flavours, I liked this wine a lot, it was a change for me from the heavier Spanish riojas that I always love.

Red

CHATEAU DUBARD BEL-AIR, ST EMILION

This Bordeaux is so velvety with soft tannins and big flavours of coffee, chocolate, and plum pudding. Hints of coffee beans and cocoa and as you would expect from a lovely smooth but also full-bodied Bordeaux (90% merlot, 10% cab franc).

White

CHATEAU DE CHEMILLY, CHABLIS

There is a lovely, perfumed nose on this Chablis, with flinty flavours of grapefruit. The palate is crisp and elegant with those wonderful green apple flavours you expect from a superior chardonnay.

White

FONT MARS, PICPOUL DE PINET

A light fruity wine, Picpoul is known as a tangy wine but this Picpoul I think is quite mellow in acidity, so the fruit is more pronounced.

White

HUGEL REISLING, ALSACE

Intense pale green colour, on the nose is discreet and fresh with hints of lime, fresh kiwi, and lemongrass with a slightly mineral edge. This in my opinion is the best wine on the list to match with any of our fish dishes, its as they say a perfect combination.

White

LE PIERRIER, SANCERRE

An expressive wine, with floral and fruity notes. The palate is fresh on the attack, fleshy and full bodied with typical Sauvignon characteristics of grass and lime. A great wine for all Sancerre lovers.

Rose

‘LOL‘ ROSE

Made from young Merlot and Malbec vines. Pale pink in colour, refreshing aromas of marshmallows and grenadine give way to notes of strawberry and apricot.

Spain

Red

DON JACOBO RIOJA, CRIANZA

Beautifully aromatic with spice plum, new leather and mint chocolate. This wine has a very subtle fruit flavour that allows the oak to be more present as you would expect from a crianza, if you prefer your rioja with less oak and more body I would suggest the reserva but if oak is your thing then this wine will go down a treat.

Red

DON JACOBO, RIOJA RESERVA

Full bodied and richly layered Reserva made from vines mainly over 50 years old. Subtle flavours of blackberries, dark cherries and dried fruits, layered with hints of chocolate, coffee and peppered with toasty oak spices.

Red

LOS CORRALES, RIOJA, MONCALVILLO MATURANA TINTA

(Organic & Vegan)
If you fancy something out of the box, this is the wine for you. This is a Rioja with a completely different grape (Montalvillo). It gets 12 months in French oak barrels so this is a big wine, thick black in colour and on the nose, black fruits, chocolate and black pepper. The palate is rich with ripe blackcurrants, laced with cassis liqueur and a finish that goes on for miles. I will be honest with you this is the most full-bodied wine I have ever tried; it is so rich and heavy and I loved it but it really is a monster

White

CAMPO FLORES BLANCO

(Organic & Vegan)
This wine a blend of sauvignon blanc & verdejo is fresh and zippy from the off, with sweet tropical notes of pineapple and pear and a twist of lime on the finish.

White

DIEZ SIGLOS, VERDEJO

I surprisingly loved this wine because if you know me, you’ll know I am a diehard ‘chardonnay all the way fan’. In this wine the flavours of citrus and pineapple lead to a surprisingly zingy note with a supple spice. It’s a great great summer wine and a nice alternative to a Sauvignon or Picpoul.

New Zealand

Red

THE BETTER HALF, PINOT NOIR

Youthful, fruit driven Pinot with soft tannins and big flavours of strawberry and cherry. Bold, perfumed and juicy with that soft light mouth feel you expect from the great Pinot Noirs.

White

THE BETTER HALF, SAUVIGNON BLANC

This racy Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is an absolute joy to all Sauvignon Blanc fans. Dry but luscious with a zesty freshness of lemon and grapefruit

Australia

Red

30 MILE SHIRAZ, AUSTRALIA

Ok for all those people that like a big juicy fruit forward (jammy) wine with a good hit of spice, this is the wine for you. No oak just lots and lots of fruit and spice

Sparkling

BLEASDALE, SPARKLING SHIRAZ

This is not something you will find very often but one to try if you’re feeling adventurous. This is a big, bold, red shiraz with bubbles. A richly flavoured sparkling Shiraz showing dark berry fruit aromas, sweet plum and silky tannins and a apricot. Good body and lingering finish.

Italy

Red

ZENATO AMARONE CLASSICO

Ruby red in colour with aromas of dried black cherries, truffles and chocolate. A benchmark for all Amarones, with a blend of 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella and 10% Oseleta Croatian. The appassimento drying process leads to a high concentration of juice inside the berries, giving the wine more body and structure……. So decadent!

Red

ZENATO VALPOLICELLA, VENETO

Delicious ripe and rounded cherry and blackcurrant flavours. This wine is very smooth with well-balanced acidity. One of our most loved reds!

Red

ZENTO RIPASSO, VENETO

Not tooting my own horn but if you are going to have a Ripasso… this is the one to have! This wine is rich, intense and full of flavours of dark cherry & spice. We call it here ‘the big brother of the Valpolicella’

Red

COLLEFRISO, MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO (Organic)

Surprisingly weighty I thought for a Montepulciano, this wine has flavours of dark fruit (dates, plum) with a hint of spice, cocoa and vanilla, its certainly pleasantly surprised me and definitely a more superior montipulciano than I have had before

Red

VILLA ANTINORI, CHIANTI CLASSICO RESERVA

This wine is a joy to drink, and definitely one of my go to wines when I feel I deserve something special. It has aromas of dark red fruit, enveloping with firm and supple tannins that mellow some of the fruit flavours and instead brings forward balsamic notes with a hint of spice, smooth as can be

White

FOLONARI, PINOT GRIGIO

Deliciously crisp with a fine floral nose. Juicy, crisp flavours of melon and pear. Finish is clean and fresh

Sparkling

SERENELLO PROSECCO, FRIZZANTE

A crisp and refreshing Prosecco with fine bubbles, lively peach and apricot flavours and a frothy freshness on the finish.

Lebanon

Red

HOCHAR PERE ET FILS

This Bordeaux blend of Cinsault, Ganache and Cabernet leads to a delicious ripe and rounded cherry and blackcurrant flavour. This wine is very smooth with well-balanced acidity. Its got lots of flavours going on in the mouth but it is still soft and medium bodied. One of our most loved reds!

Red

CHATEAU MUSAR

This unique and internationally renowned Lebanese wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan grapes. Complex, rich with concentrated fruits and a long finish. This is one to buy and hide away for a few years, it will mature great with age.

Argentina

Red

MAN MEETS MOUNTAIN, MALBEC

If you like your wine a little on the heavier side and packed with fruit this is the wine for you, lots of flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum.

USA

Red

MENAGE A TROIS, ZINFANDEL

The Zinfandel grape is one of those secret American wines. People confuse this wine with the Zinfandel rose which is so far from it, it could fall off a cliff. This red Zinfandel will delight all those who like a red wine with bursts of fruit flavours rounded off with some spice. The oak is so subtle here so if you’re into oaky wines, this one is not for you. But if you like a wine with lots of blackberry and berry flavours with a small hint of vanilla, a sprinkle of spice, look no further!

South Africa

Red

WATERFORD ESTATE ‘KEVIN ARNOLD’ SHIRAZ

This superb wine is beautifully structured with dark berry fruit, earthy undertones and soft hints of pepper. This is a classy shiraz, everything is soft and smooth there is no big bang of jammy fruit you get from an Australian shiraz, everything about this wine is elegant.

Chile

White

ANTAWARA RESERVE CHARDOONAY

Not saying I am an anti- Chilean wine person but its been a while since I found one that I wanted to put on the list but in my search for a good chardonnay I was talked into trying this wine and I was pleasantly surprised. A great wine for Chardonnay lovers, it has that nice tropical fruit you expect from a Chardonnay with subtle hints of vanilla. Its unoaked but still holds its structured surprisingly well without the oak.
